Athletes are a very competitive bunch. They must be the best in order to win and reach many of their ultimate goals. Searching for an edge and becoming the best that they physically and mentally be is what many strive to achieve. It's because of this trend that often both legal and illegal methods are used to in order to get ahead of the competition. In this article, we don't condone the use of unethical methods to get where you are headed. Instead if you are asking yourself, "how can I get faster?" then we suggest that you follow these simple tips to ensure greater foot speeds.

First, mix up and utilize various running and speed drills. Do things such as running up hills, standard sprint workouts, and foot speed drills. Anything that can aid in getting you in better shape and get you sprinting is always a good first step. Without specific knowledge on a person's workout it is difficult to suggest changes but look at your own personal workout plans and adjust accordingly.

Next make sure to work on your form. This is probably best done with a coach or someone else who can observe your motion while running. To get faster you need good form otherwise counterproductive movement may creep in slowing you down. Make sure to be loose and relaxed while running. This will ensure greater blood flow by not clinching muscles, which is vital for muscle endurance and will help keep you from getting winded.

Flexing is a must in any athletic exercise. In this case make sure to work on the legs, getting a longer extension means you can cover more ground in fewer strides which in turn means greater faster running speed.

Lastly, be sure to weight lift. There are many common misconceptions about lifting weights and sprinting such as it will make me bulk and slow. This is completely untrue, ask any professional athlete if the weight room is an important part of training they will undoubtedly say yes. This is because you will get stronger and will be able to propel yourself farther forward then previously before. This also helps with endurance and will aid in many other competitive events. Don't be afraid of the squat either, it is possibly the most beneficial lift that an athlete can do.

These have been some tips on how you can get a faster running speed and blow the competition away. Remember to get some foot speed drills and build some muscle, it will help you out more than you know. Good luck with your further training.
