Easy Feather Duster Project

These are the items to use to complete this project. Purchase these items at most any the craft stores. Craft stores usually have a large select of feathers. Now the first thing that is required is the feathers. It will take 10 to 15 feathers to make the duster. This will depend on how large the feather duster will be. The feathers need to be the same size and length. They will need to be soft, long but not stiff. Now it will take a hot glue gun, some rubber bands or ribbon. Next, a medicine bottle, a tall one will work well. However, the smaller around the bottle the better it will work. In addition, a very small amount of contact paper or wallpaper will work as the bottle cover. Last, a rubber glove together with a 12" dowel rod is essential.

Now with the rubber glove cut the fingers off then cut the closed end off. But only one finger is necessary to use. The pinky one will work best but keep the others for another project.

At this time, take the feathers by putting the quills down into the rubber finger. Then put the hot glue inside the finger but to the outside of the quills for extra hold. Pulling on the rubber finger may help to get it down inside around them. Now stick one end of the dowel up into the center of the quills. Turn upside down then place the hot glue down between the dowel and the ends of the feathers. Next, wrap the rubber band around the outside of the finger. By this time, the quills should already be secure. Take the cap off the medicine bottle it is not useful. After this take, the bottle with the open end turned up. After that, place it up over the end of the feathers. It will need to go up over the end where the quills are together. This is the handle of the feather duster. If desired place something over the bottle then attached with the glue. A small designed piece of wallpaper or contact paper would work.

The duster is now finished; here are few other tips on using and cleaning it. With furniture polish spray lightly cover the feathers to help draw the dust to it. After using it, hold it under slow running almost hot water to clean it. Then shake it over the skin to remove access water. Now place it on a hand towel cover and pat lightly. Next, lay the towel back away from the feathers to finish drying.

The feather duster is inexpensive to make and a very easy project.
