Start by thinking about what it is you remember so fondly. Be specific, not just "I remember my childhood as being filled with such wonderful times."
If you are stuck on the details, and have children, watch them. But really watch them. Don't be just the distracted chaperone. See what they see. Hear what they hear. It may provide inspiration for your great leap backward. If you don't have children you can still go to the local park and watch others' kids.
Either way you will soon understand that it's the simple things of your childhood you remember most warmly. Some of the specifics you will sadly not be able recreate today, but others will apply. Here are a few.
When children sing they just don't care if they are good at it. It isn't artistic to them, it is fun! Sing at home or during your commute. Sing walking through the woods.
In world of today, rain is probably only good for the grass. You wouldn't dream of going out in it unless you had to. But as a child you loved playing in the rain. Try it again. See if the magic comes back.
Generally, just being outdoors is good for you. Of course, it's best if you have a nearby park or wooded area to walk in, or perhaps a hill to climb. If the conditions are right, go barefoot. As a child you used to love it.
But even if you don't have a park nearby you still benefit from a stroll around a city block. Soak in the sights and sounds. Observe the other people and also the rest of the creatures that you share the space with. The exercise part won't do you any harm either.
Have you ever noticed how pets and children have an instinctive mutual attraction? Take some time to play with your pet. Don't just feed and walk it. Interaction with your pet can bring out the child in you.
The process of revisiting your childhood times can be therapeutic. Start by remembering the details, and then relive the parts that you can. Certainly, you cannot actually be a child again but you can emulate one with very satisfying results.
