How to Feel like a Productive Homemaker and Mommy

How to Overcome the Everyday Life

I am a stay at home mommy and I remember when I was in college I had all these ideas as to how easy it was for moms to sit at home all day and watch their kids!! WOW was I wrong! You get done with one job only to turn around and see five other ones that need to be done. I read a little sign once that said being a housewife is like a revolving door, the chores just keep revolving! I know what it is like to wake up and look in the mirror and wonder where I have disappeared too! When we are stay at home mommy's there are going to be many times when we feel like we are getting nowhere. We spend so much time taking care of our families that sometimes we need to take a step back and reassess our lives. We need to be able to admit we can't do everything, but the one thing we have to do is take care of ourselves.

Don't be a left over! Do what you need to do in order to keep your mind and body fresh. If there are things that you enjoyed in the past try and find time to do one of those things each month. I always love to help, so one way that I have been able to help young women who are in a crisis pregnancy is by making phone calls from home to remind them of their appointments. I can't do the counseling that I was once able to do, but I can make phone calls from home. I know that it doesn't seem like much but it helps me feel more productive. We don't want to be the leftovers that get scraped into the trash because they have become rotten. We need to be at the top of our game as mommy's and wife's. Is if easy? No! It is something that you have to make a conscience effort about doing. Just remember that when Mommy is happy everyone's happy and when Mommy isn't happy no one else is either! We as mothers set the pace and mood of our home, if we don't feel good about what we are and what we are doing then it is hard to make a happy home.
