How to Make Felt Fall Cutout Placemats

Pam Parent
These pretty placemats will add a touch of fall to any table. They are fun to make, and can me made in any fall color combination. They also look pretty under a vase, or can be made in a longer length and used as a table runner. These fall placemats are a popular seller at fall bazaars.

Felt Fall Cutout Placemats

Supplies:

Burgundy and orange felt
Fall stencil
Masking tape
Tape measure
Pencil
Embroidery thread to match burgundy felt
Embroidery needle
Sewing machine (can be hand-sewn)
Pins
Scissors

Directions:

1. Cut a rectangle shape from the burgundy felt that fits your table. Cut a rectangle shape from the orange felt that is one inch larger on all sides.

2. Tape the fall stencil to the center of the burgundy felt. Trace the stencil with a pencil or thin marker. Remove the stencil, then cut out stencil pattern with the scissors.

3. Place the burgundy piece of felt centered on top of the orange rectangle. Pin in place. Topstitch the layers together with a sewing machine, or hand-sew the edges together.

4. I have also added fall beads around the edges of my cutout stencil design on my placemats for added pizazz. It is endless the added detail that can be done to these cutout fall placemats.
