The first thing doctors will recommend to you is to get vaccinated. Most of the time healthy people pass on the flu vaccine so that the older folks can get it. The flu vaccine is also required for folks in the military and for nurses and doctors. But there has been recent research going on because some people are worried that what is in the flu vaccine is more harmful than flu itself. Do your own research and if you decide this vaccine is the right path then take it. If it means not getting this awful bug who wouldn't want to?
Always cover your nose and your mouth when you cough and sneeze. This will help prevent the flu bug going airborne and effecting others. Either sneeze into a tissue or into the crease of the inside of your elbow. If you sneeze into your hand and you don't immediately wash it without touching anything else you will be spreading the flu germ to anything you touch.
Speaking of washing your hands, do this often when there is a flu bug going around. This will help prevent you from picking up the bug and being sick yourself if someone you are around is sick, or it will help you prevent the people you care about from being sick (or the people you work with).
The last tip is to stay home when you have the flu. You should wait until 24 hours after you are recovered, after your fever has broken, before interacting with others. Your boss may be upset that you took two days off from work, but he will be happy that you weren't there spreading the flu making everyone have to take time off.
