How to Fight like Manny Pacquiao

A Dream Unfulfilled by Top Contenders of the Sweet Science

Everybody wants to get a piece of Manny Pacquiao, and rightfully so because undoubtedly, he has the personality and popularity to bring money to the negotiation table. And not only that, getting in the ring with Manny Pacquiao is like playing one-on-one basketball game with Michael Jordan, or playing a single round of golf with Tiger Woods; Pacquiao is that big and certainly a brute force to be reckoned with! For this reason, many other fighters aspire not only to fight Manny Pacquiao, but to fight like Manny Pacquiao.

Fighting Manny Pacquiao is a tough task to undertake, but it's even tougher to replicate his fighting style and overall ring smarts. Pacquiao is a complete fighter and to be exactly like him, you will need to have the following attributes:

- consummate dedication to training
- humble and friendly spirit
- astute trainer like Freddie Roach
- support of your whole country
- innate strength and speed

Here are the highlights of the aforementioned characters and attributes of Manny Pacquiao that propel him to boxing's stardom:

Dedication to training. Manny Pacquiao is a professional athlete who strives for perfection. He can be the busiest man on the planet making movies, recording songs, doing commercials, campaigning for a government office, but when it is time to prepare for a big fight (which he always have), he suppresses everything and commits himself solely on training. You will never see Manny Pacquiao doing the same old moves in the ring for each fight. Why? Because he alters his fighting style based on what his opponents bring to the ring on fight night, and he develops this particular technique in the gym at the start of his training.

Humbleness in victory. Pacquiao's ferociousness in the ring is overshadowed by his humble and friendly character. He always enters the ring with a contagious grin on his face, but don't let that sweet smile fool you. Pacquiao destroys his opponents at will with his brute force but he bestows mercy when he finds them laying in the canvass unconscious. He is remembered by fans and commentators as the fighter who extended his hands to David Diaz and Ricky Hatton to help them get up from defeat, after knocking them out senseless in their championship battles.

Astute trainer. All fighters need a good trainer to help them succeed in their boxing career and fortunately, Pacquiao has Freddie Roach. Their father to son partnership reshapes boxing history and they will go down in boxing annals as one of the most successful teams to ever partake in the Sweet Science of sports.

Support from the whole nation. Since Pacquiao's total domination of Mexico's great Marco Antonio Barrera inn 2003, he has been receiving the support of his country, the Philippines, as a whole. Filipinos from all over the world take time off from their busy schedules to support their national icon each time he steps in the ring. Pacquiao has 92 million people supporting him and chanting his name every time he fights; and that's no circus crowd but rather an entire country's population.

Power and speed. However, the most unique gift that Manny Pacquiao has and it is perhaps the key for his celebrated success in the Sweet Science is his innate power and speed. From the flyweight division, he carries his strength and agility all the way up to the welterweight division, where he is now one of the reigning and defending world champions. Pacquiao packs a punch in his two fists and his footwork is immaculate to watch. This combination of power and speed is what separates Manny Pacquiao from the rest of the fighters in this era; it is what makes him the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world and the most exciting fighter in the planet.

To reiterate, replicating the fighting style of Manny Pacquiao may be accomplished by other boxers, but his lasting legacy in the sport will never be equaled by anyone. Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao truly belongs to the highest echelon of boxing's all-time greats.

Thanks so much, Jack. I knew you will recognize that special character that I included in this article. Excellent observation as always, my good friend. Have a blessed and fruitful day!

I especially liked the "humble and friendly spirit". Knowing that pride comes before the fall, esepcially relevant in boxing, this is a strength no doubt, and it appears as a writer, you have no weakness at all. Sterling work again Joey.
