If you live in Alabama, and feel you have a claim against BP as a result of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon on April 20, the process may become a little easier to file. The National Guard and the state Emergency Management Agency have now gotten involve by order of the Governor. Representatives are now going to all Gulf Shore and Orange Beach businesses, delivering information packets regarding the BP LLC claims process.

If you haven't gotten your packet - or are not a business owner in those areas - here is the way you file a claim.

Claims may be filed by individuals, businesses and government entities. You must be assigned a claim number. You can do that by calling 800-440-0858.

Then, you can file your claim online by going to www.bp.com/claims.

If you do not have access to the web, then you may go to the following locations in person. These centers can be reached by phone by calling 800-573-8249.
