How to Find an Affordable Cruise for a Family Spring Break
Spring Break 2009 for Families on a Budget
1. Olmsted Falls Spring Break Family Cruise. This cruise is affordable because kids under 17 only pay the $47 government taxes and fees when staying in a room with two paying adults. Up to two children can get this deal per room. The prices for two adults in a room range from $549 each adult through $999 each adult, depending on what room type you choose. An interior room is $549, standard balcony is $849 and the top balcony is $999.
The ship leaves from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 5 pm. On Monday, March 30th, the boat reaches Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic at 9:30 am, docking until 5:30 pm. The next destination is St. Maarten in Phillipsburg, on Tuesday, March 31st. You have a few hours there before the ship departs for St. Johns, Antigua. Arrival is on Wednesday, April 1st. On Friday, April 3rd, the ship reaches Nassau, Bahamas, where it stays in port for seven hours. At 7 pm, the 12 hour voyage is made back to Fort Lauderdale, arriving on Saturday, April 4th at 7 am.
The name of the ship is the MSC Orchestra. It can house up to 2,900 people. There are two pools with outdoor pool bars. You will find all types of shopping on board. There are five restaurants and some theatres for movie viewing. Many of the state rooms have private balconies. Each state room has internet access, a mini bar, and a flat screen television. The theme of the restaurants is Old World and New World.
Amenities include a casino, a card room, a beauty salon, a wine tasting bar, a library, a gymnasium, and a sauna and steamroom. You will find a medical center, art gallery, internet cafe', and some duty free shops as well. There is an aerobics room and a jogging track.
You do not need a passport, but a birth certificate and driver's license. Travel insurance can be purchased through Travel Insured International. The price includes accommodations, meals and non-alcoholic beverages, and onboard entertainment. Tips are not included.
2. Disney 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise. This is the April 4, 2009 Spring Break Disney Cruise. Children between 3 and 12 are included in the price of two adults for a cabin. Prices include meals and entertainment, as well as the room. An inside room costs $1338 for two adults combined (Florida resident price.) The best accommodation, the family verandah, is $2538 for two adults combined.
The cruise uses the Carnival Cruise Line, Glory Ship. On April 4th, the ship leaves Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida at 4 pm. On Monday, April 6th, the ship arrives in Cozumel, Mexico at 10 am. You dock there until 6 pm. The next destination is Belize for April 7th, followed by Costa Maya, Mexico on Wednesday the 8th of April. On Friday, you reach Nassau, Bahamas for the day. At 4 pm, you leave for the 15 hour trip back to Orlando. The trip ends on April 11, 2009 at 7 am.
The great thing about this cruise is that there are plenty of activities for children. Parents even get some alone time while children are participating in certain activities. One feature of the Disney cruises is the Mickey Pool with a Mickey water slide.
Entertainment includes Disney Broadway Style Musicals. There is a family lounge. Adults can enjoy two nighttime entertainment areas with dancing. New Disney movies are also featured in the theatres.
3. Spring Break Cruise, 7 Night Western Caribbean. The Cruise LIne is the Royal Caribbean, and the ship name is Voyager of the Seas. It costs $717 per person for an interior room. PRices for rooms with a balcony are higher. The sail date is March 22, 2009. Discount rates are available for third and fourth persons in one cabin, such as children. The price includes the port charges, taxes and fuel. Gratuity and plane fare is not included.
The ship features a rock climbing wall and ice skating rink. You will also find 10 restaurants, 3 pools, a casino, an internet cafe, a library, bars and dance clubs, a fitness center and spa, and m any shops.
This cruise departs from Galveston, Texas on March 22, 2009. The ship then reaches Cozumel, Mexico. The next destination is Roatan in the Bay Islands. The next two days feature arriving in ports of Costa Maya and Progresso in t Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The ship then travels back to Galveston, Texas.
