Vintage Jeans
While shopping locally for vintage jeans, know what you are looking for. When you browse garage sales, thrift stores, and organized resale shops, keep your eyes open. While you are browsing the racks look for the seaming on each pair of pants. Look at the grommets on the pockets, zipper, and any exterior and inner name brand label. Keep your eyes open for any jeans that are obviosly not new, were the label may have been cut out. The grommets on the jeans may be a different tone than modern jeans. The tone may be a bright copper or even a dull gray. If there is a name brand that you love, look for it. If you are not familiar with name brands look for Levi's, Lacoste, Guess, Gloria Vanderbilt, Wrangler, Z. Cavaicci, Jordache, St. Tropez, and Dolce Gabbana.
Vintage Sizes
Vintage jeans are not vanity sized. If you wear a ladies size 4 or 6 you probably will not be able to wear a true vintage size 4. Ignore the size that is listed on the label. Always try on the pants, or keep your tape measure with you. Know your waist, hip, and inseam measurement before shopping. Keep these measurements with you on an index card or piece of paper in your purse or wallet. If you do happen to find the perfect pair of vintage jeans but it is the wrong size, there is hope. Contact your local tailor to have the jeans tailored to fit your body. If the pants are too short turn the hemline over to see if there is additional fabric. After purchasing, take the pants immediately to your tailor.
Wear
Pair your vintage blue jeans with your favorite vintage tee shirt. Wear sexy heels or boots to highlight the look of your vintage jeans. Wash your vintage blue jeans on delicate in a detergent that does not fade fabrics. Or you can send the vintage jeans to the dry cleaners. When you find the perfect pair of vintage blue jeans you will know it. Look for modern pieces to mix and match with your new vintage find. If you are in doubt about how to wear the vintage jeans, this will help. Wear a solid white blouse or tee shirt. Women can wear a great stretch belt or skinny belt if your top is long. Shorter tops can be worn and tucked in with a fabulous belt worn through the belt loops. Men can wear a collared shirt, tee, thin sweater, or blazer with vintage jeans to bring the look together.
There are endless outfit possibilities to show off your new vintage jeans. Cleanse your jeans with care to keep them looking their best. Take all fabulous jeans with slight problems immediately to your tailor. Wear your vintage jeans often, to share your fabulous style with everyone. Use these tips to add a few nice pieces to your vintage wardrobe.
