How to Find Your Car in a Car Port

GFCosmo
When parking in a car port, it can become very difficult and confusing to find your car when you are returning from your trip. This is because almost every section and floor of the car port looks exactly the same. It can become extremely frustrating when you are on a time schedule and you can't for the life of you find where you parked your vehicle. To avoid the problem of wandering through the carport for hours on end, there are several different tips you may want to keep in mind when leaving your vehicle. For larger car ports or if you simply don't trust your memory you might want to bring pen and paper with you (or take a picture of your car with your phone).

Floor

Remember the floor. If there is only one thing you remember when you park your car, it is the floor number you are on. It can be difficult to count the floor while driving the car, but take note of the number painted next to the exit or elevator door. This number alone will save you the most amount of time. Remembering where in the port you parked will do you no good, if you end up having to looking through three or four different floors before finding your car.

Location to Elevator

When parking, try to remember where you are in relation to the exit or elevator. If you are directly in front of the elevator or across from it, this will be important to take note. After the floor number you will want to remember this. Some car port floors can be large and trying to find your car could take a few minutes if you don't remember where on the level your parked. Returning to the car port through the same exit will be helpful as well. This will keep you from becoming turned around and will save you time when looking for you car.

Section Color

This means level four can have three different colored sections. Not remembering what section you parked in can result in extended time looking for your car. Often times with these particular car ports it can be difficult to return to your level through the same designated exit, so remember your level and color section will be extremely important when it comes to locating your car in a timely manor.
