Here are a number of ideas on how to find cheap furniture. The good news about wanting to find cheap furniture is that for the most part second hand furniture has a very low resale value making great deals not that difficult to find. Check out the following places and see what deals on furniture that you can find near you.

Thrift Stores

Local thrift stores are generally the first place that people look for cheap furniture. While thrift stores are great places to find cheap furniture, there can be a lot of competition. Get there on Monday morning and see what they have. Don't be afraid to look around outside at things they have not yet brought in from the weekend and make them an offer.

Newspaper Classifieds

Another common location for looking for cheap furniture is the classified ads. Furniture listed in the classifieds is often quickly gone, so get up early, get a paper, and be ready to go make purchases.

Online Auctions

Online auction sites like eBay often have listings of people trying to sell their used furniture. Look for listing in your local area as most furniture will need to be picked up in order to keep the prices cheap.

Craigslist

Craigslist is probably one of the best places to find cheap furniture. It is easy to see what is available locally as well as to contact the seller if you find something you are interested in buying.

Yard Sales / Garage Sales

Yard and Garage sales can be hit or miss as to whether or not they have furniture. If you find the sale in the classifieds, most people will mention if they are selling furniture as it is a big ticket item they want to get rid of. But simply spending Saturday mornings driving around and looking for sales with furniture can pay off as well.

Rummage Sales

If you can find a rummage sale, they seem to always have used furniture that is being sold cheaply.

Flea Markets

Flea markets can be a useful place for finding certain types of furniture. Browse around and see what you can find.

Trash Day

No one may want to do it, but driving around the night before trash goes out will often turn up the cheapest price for furniture - Free!
