How to Find the Exact Latitude and Longitude of Your House Using Google Earth

Chris James

Step 1: Download Google Earth. It's free.

Step 2: When the download is finished, open Google Earth. Type in your exact address including city and state in the bar in the top left corner that says "fly to."

Step 3: Make sure your mouse is positioned in the left sidebar, or Google Earth will read the latitude and longitude of wherever the mouse is pointed to on the screen. The latitude and longitude of your address will display at the bottom center of the screen. If you want to change the units of the latitude and longitude (for example decimal degrees), go to the Google Earth menu in the top left corner, click preferences, under show lat/long, you can change the units of the latitude and longitude.

If you want to explore the latitude and longitude of places nearby, just move the mouse around the screen to find the latitude and longitude of other locations on the land area you are viewing.
