You know the song "Video killed the radio star?" Well, DVD killed the VHS. VHS tapes are obsolete. If you are one of the few that still have a VCR, then you might as well try to sell it on eBay. You might only get a buck but you can invest that buck in a brand new DVD player. If the reason why you still have a VCR is because you want to keep on watching your old movie, then its time to get rid of it. Because I'm here to tell the best ways you can get your classic, hard to find, rare, out of print movies on DVD. Now I get all my movies from eBay or Amazon.com. I recommend Amazon.com because you don't have to get into a bidding war with other users. I always buy used copies of my movies because they are cheap. Don't be afraid to buy used copies. Always check the seller's feedback ratings. If they have a lot of negative feedback, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! Still, when you're buying used copies, you always run the risk in receiving a scratched disk. It can be from how it was handle in the mail or the buyer's didn't package it up right. But if you received a scratch disk or it won't play in your dvd player, just clean it off with a wet rag or pray some Windex on it and 9 times out of 10 it will work. But if its still not working, then you can either ask for a refund if the buyer offers it, or just throw it away and leave a negative report on the seller.

Now, if you can't find your favorite movies on eBay or Amazon, I recommend checking out your local flea market or video store. Now when I say video store, I don't mean Blockbuster or Hollywood Video store. Check out your small independent video store. I remember when I was about twelve, I went into all the big chain video stores looking for my favorite movie. The movie was Tales From a Parallel Universe. And none of those video stores had it. They never even heard of the movie. So I open the yellow pages and I find this local, small video store called Home Run Video. I called them asking if they had it. And guess what? They had it. They had all kinds of hard to find movies. So check out your local, small video store. They might have your favorite movies there.

If you still can't find your favorite movies anywhere, then they might not be out on dvd yet. Companies don't want to waste money putting old, out of print movies on dvd, that most of us don't remember. They rather rerelease movies that are Hollywood Blockbusters that everybody remembers. But eventually your favorite old movies will make it out on dvd. But it will take some time and patience. Or you can purchase a dvd and vhs recorder. You can transfer all your vhs on to dvd. Check out Walmart, Best Buy, and Circuit City. Right now, Walmart has a very low price on a dvd player and vhs recorder for $89.88. But you might find it cheaper somewhere else. Its worth checking it out if you really want to put your favorite movies on vhs.

My Top Tips in Finding Your Favorite Movies

1. Ebay.com and Amazon.com have the cheapest deals on everything. You can find just about any movie on these two websites. If you can't find your movies there, then search the web. There are so many websites that cater to movie buffs like you. But you might not get low prices on those sites. Expect to dish out some pennies if you buy from those sites.

2. Don't be afraid to buy used movies! If you want it brand new don't expect to pay a low price. You might find its a better deal buying the movie used than new.

3. Check out flea markets and local small video stores.

4. If you don't have your favorite movie on vhs, make sure you know the title of the movie and who stars in it. It will be easier to find. If you just know who stars in then go to imdb.com and search through all the movies that the actor or actress been in until you see a movie that looks like the film you're looking for.

5. The reasons why your favorite movies are not on dvd yet is because they are either out of print, rare, or unusual films.

6. Check out Walmart, Best Buy, or Circuit city for DVD/ VHS recorders.

7. Don't throw away your vhs tapes. Sell them and invest the money on dvds.

8. Sell your vcr on eBay. Invest the money on dvds.
