How to Find Fun and Adventure at Brigham Young University
A Guide to Activities and Entertainment in the BYU Area
Exploring Campus. If you only think of campus as a place to study, then you will definitely be missing out. The BYU campus has many treasures that you will want to explore. BYU has many fun and exciting museums such as the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum, Museum of Art, Earth Science Museum and the Museum of Peoples and Cultures. These are great spots that you will definitely enjoy visiting.
The BYU campus also has a rich performing arts calendar. There are musical concerts, theater, film screenings, dancing, and more, with student and faculty performances, as well as guest artists. One of my favorite venues on campus is the International Cinema, which usually shows three different films a week. Admission is free and it is a unique opportunity to experience art and culture from around the world.
Expand Your Horizons. With so much to do right on campus, it can be tempting to let it become your entire world. But you don't want to miss out on the many other activities that the area provides. The Provo/Orem area has plenty of unique places that you won't want to miss. From beautiful nature spots, to great music and comedy venues, there is as much to explore off campus as on.
One of my favorite places to go in the area is Thanksgiving Point, located in Lehi, Utah. There is practically endless entertainment here with museums, gardens, restaurants, shops, and performances. It is a great place to get out and experience something new. You definitely won't want to miss the Dinosaur Museum or the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. In the fall, you can even get lost in the Thanksgiving Point Cornmaze. You can always find entertainment here, at any time of year.
The Provo/Orem area also has many unique performing venues. If you like live music, then you'll love seeing a show at Velour or Muse Music. If you like comedy, then you should definitely check out ComedySportz in Provo for an incredibly fun and memorable evening. If you love the arts, you will also find plenty of entertainment. You can take in a show at the Hale Center Theatre Orem, or enjoy an art gallery stroll during downtown Provo's "First Fridays Downtown". You will never run out of entertainment in Utah Valley, if you just know where to look.
