How to find God is to realize our fallen nature in contrast to the absolute holiness of God who is so glorious that no human mind can even fathom his greatness. The road to this realization is in the Holy Bible which contains the very words of God, penned by writers who were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
We can get to know God so well through his written word that we can actually recognize him. It is the same as when we find something written by someone we love such as our spouse or child and recognize them in the writing without it being signed by them. Once we reach this point of spiritual maturity, God becomes more real to us each time we study the scriptures and our faith grows by leaps and bounds.
We are to approach God as little children. To help illustrate this, if we tell a small child that if he does everything he can to please God he will get a really big surprise, the child won't be able to sleep for trying to think of ways to please God. This is child-like faith which is what we strive to receive from God through prayer and scripture.
Finding God is simple because he is omnipresent which means he is everywhere at once. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and God raised him from the dead on the third day. He paid our debt to God. It is a free gift. We can't earn it. If we could earn salvation we wouldn't need a savior.
Therefore, if you want to find God, accept Jesus as your Lord then confess him openly. By doing so, the Holy Spirit will quicken your spirit and you will become a child of God.
This life is just a passing shadow compare to eternity. God sustains all life so apart from him there is no life. Jesus came into the world to save all those who will come to him. He said that no one really knows who he is or who the Father really is except for those he chooses to reveal himself to. (Luke 10:22)
Therefore, find Jesus and you have found God. He is the image of the invisible God and through him we have access to the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit. There will be no more sacrifices for man. The sacrifice at Calvary was the last so there is no other way to God except the one he has provided which is belief in his only begotten Son.
"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt. 11:29)
Jesus will return soon for those who belong to him.
