Step 1
By joining an organization that supports the disabled you may be put on a government list that updates information on these grants. Do a search online for local and national groups to join. Groups exist for general disabilities or a specialized disability. Visit http://www.google.com/Top/Health/Support_Groups/Disability/ for more information.
Step 2
Search online. Sites such as www.grants.gov provide free lists of government grants. You can search for grants for the disabled with their keyword search function. A current list of government grants specifically earmarked for the disabled will be provided. Information on each grant and application guidelines are also listed. http://www.disabledonline.com/link-directory/government/government-grants-funds-loans/ is another resource to check.
Step 3
Search for grants for disabled veterans. Visit http://www.disabledonline.com/link-directory/government/government-grants-funds-loans/ for help. Grants allocated to those individuals who served our country and are now disabled exist. These grants can assist with housing needs, medical expenses, and more. There are also grants available to small business owners and other individuals who provide for disable veterans via ramp access or more.
Step 4
Government grants for disabled renters are provided by the HUD program, or the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Families with disabled family members can benefit through the grants offered. Assistance provided includes money for housing. http://www.disabledonline.com/link-directory/government/government-grants-funds-loans/ has more information.
Step 5
Other resources exist for finding government grants for the disabled. National Grant Conferences can provide information about these grants. Check out at http://www.federalgrantswire.com/national-grants-conferences.html for details. The above are guidelines to get you started on finding government grants for the disabled.
