Job fairs are not hard to find if you look in the right places and live in the right area. Big cities tend to have more job fairs than smaller communities. To find a job fair you may need to travel to your nearest city. You do not want to travel too far, however, because then the jobs that are at the fair will be too far from where you live. This will not matter of course if you are willing to move your living location to accommodate a job offer.
There are a couple very good places to find a job fair that fits your needs. The first one is your local business bureau or labor department. Sometimes these places will host their own small job fairs, but most often they will just have a list of them that are going on in the area. The people at these places will guide you and help you, that is their job. The second place that works great to find a job fair is the internet. Search the web for job fairs in your area and many should turn up. The internet is a powerful research tool so make sure that you use it.
Also, individual companies will often hold job fairs. Large companies will have many positions to fill in different fields and that is why they have these. These fairs will accommodate to those that are looking to get into a specific industry or business. If you know what you want to do for a job, try to find the job fair that will cater most to your needs by looking for one that covers a specific type of business.
Once you find a job fair, you will need to know how to be prepared and present yourself to employers that will be there.
Make sure that you have copies of your resume on you. Though these are not required at job fairs, it makes you look better if you have a resume. Often times employers make it possible to apply for a job at the job fair itself. Having a resume to go along with the application will give you an advantage over other applicants.
Also, you will want to make sure that you look appropriate and presentable. Dress in something that makes you look professional. Groom yourself and make sure that you look your best for the potential employers.
The next thing that will help you at a job fair is to have a business card. Attach this to your application and resume or just hand them out to those that you have conversation with. This not only looks professional, but will keep the thought of you fresh on the mind of employers when they go through their things at the end of the day.
These are just a few suggestions that will help you to find a job fair, and succeed at getting hired when you do find one. Pick the job fair that is right for you, and the best job will follow.
