How to Find and Listen to Free Music Online

Music has always been part of our society. Dating back to thousands of years in time, music has definitely evolved into multiple types of genre. If you have watched the movie 'The School of Rock' starring Jack Black, you would have noticed the genre chart drawn by him.

Of course we would like to listen to free music online - with no strings attached. Purchasing an album might not cost much in US but for many countries around the world buying one is expensive!

Alright, you might ask me how to find and listen to free music online. In reality, there is in fact ample of music broadcasts that you can find online. Of late, podcasters have gained widespread popularity in the online community. Here are some websites which you can listen to the latest and up to date music albums online:

Radio.Blog.Club - http://radioblogclub.com
This is one of my personal favorite. You can find a huge range of artists and their albums in their database. Just do a simple search of the artist's name or album and you will find not only their songs but also other similar song titles. I was able to find really old albums as well here.

To play a song in the list there are two options. First you may click on the link on the song and it will be played on a JavaScript player at the top right corner. The song that you have selected would be played together with several other similar albums. If you just want to listen to one particular song without invoking the JavaScript player, just simply click on the tiny play arrow right beside the song's title. This will invoke a smaller player just below the main player.

However, don't expect to find a complete set of song titles and albums here. Also newer albums released into the market might take a little time before it is being uploaded by the webmaster.

Here's a trick for you. If you are using Internet Explorer to play songs from this site, there are small chances that it might appear in your Internet Explorer's cache folder. Simply copy the mp3 file into your hard drive and you can play it offline! However, I wouldn't recommend you to do this - you wouldn't want RIAA knocking on your doors demanding to check on your PC right?

Also if you like the song you can actually embed a JavaScript code into your blog or website or even in your Friendster! To get the code, click on the tiny play button beside the song's title and the code will appear at the right side of the screen.

Yahoo! Music - http://music.yahoo.com
This is another favorite music spot that I like to visit. Whenever I can't find the music in RadioBlogClub, I would definitely head to Yahoo! Music. To listen to Yahoo! Music, you will need a Yahoo! account which is free and of course the latest Windows Media Player. Simply click on an album or a song title to listen to it. You can even view video clips from Yahoo! Music. However, not all song titles in an album are available for you to listen.

Another method of listening music online is through installing Yahoo! Messenger. You can install a Yahoo! Music LAUNCHcast plugin inside the messenger to listen to live radio.

Pandora - http://www.pandora.com
Lastly, Pandora serves as a great place to listen to Internet radio. Although the juke box panel takes some time for it to load, you can actually search for many artists in their database. However, the juke box is able to display one song at a time only thus don't expect to see a list of available songs here.

A quick note for those who are interested in listening in Pandora - you will need a good Internet connection to load these songs. I am currently running on a 1Mbps DSL line and I still experience lag.

For music lovers, now you can listen to the music of your choice from these websites. But last word of advice, always support the music artists whenever possible - these music are from their hard work right? Enjoy!
