How to Find Maternity Tops for the Tall Woman

Are you a tall woman or a woman with a long torso and pregnant? It's hard enough to find clothing that's long enough to cover your torso when you're not pregnant, but once you are, what do you do? I found that many maternity shirts looked short on average-size women once they had a good-size baby belly. On me, they looked even shorter! But I found a few things that helped and a few places that sold shirts that were long enough.

1. Websites that sell long t-shirts to being with: These businesses sell t-shirts designed to keep you modest when you are not pregnant, but many have expanded to include maternity lines. 2. Buying a tall size blouse a few sizes too big: I used a Gap blouse and an Old Navy blouse interchangeably that were 1 size larger than I normally wear and got them in a tall (which Old Navy now sells) so they were both long enough and big enough. Alternatively, they looked cute layered over one of the long t-shirts or tanks from one of the websites above.

3. Look for super-long tunic tops: I found some at Forever21 and Target.

4. Actually going into the store: Though it takes more time and can be frustrating, sometimes stores such as Motherhood Maternity and Ann Taylor Loft maternity (if you have one near you) both had tops that were long enough, though it took some searching. I found Gap and Old Navy to be hit and miss in terms of having longer shirts.

5. Using a belly band: They can be used to help cover your belly and provide support. As a bonus, they help you to wear your jeans a little bit longer and also cover your torso when you are nursing and don't want to show everyone your post-baby belly. 6. J.C.Penney: J.C. Penney has a small selection of tops in women's tall maternity. They can be found on J.C.Penney's website under the maternity section. Simply click on maternity and then shop by size range.
