How to Find Out What Sells on Ebay

All of us will agree that there is money to be made on ebay. The issue is that we all do not know how to make money on ebay. What do we sell and how do we know if our item will sell? I have found a way to figure out what is selling on ebay and I'd like to share this with you. You will also learn how much to ask for your item and how long to list your item. If you watch closely enough, you can also see trends that ebay goes through. You will be able to notice which time of the month or seasons certain items sell and when they do not sell.

Before I show you how to do this specific type of investigation, I would encourage you to think about what type of items that you might be interested in selling first. After you have done this, you will want to think about what is popular on the market right now. Is there a name brand, a color, or a style that is popular right now? Jot down your ideas as you go along. Go and do a search on the Internet and find out what the going prices of these items are. This can give you an idea as to how much to ask for your item.

As you are doing your search, look for any trends that are happening right now. Also, look at past trends. Think about how long the item you are interested in may stay in the trend. You do not want to invest money in something and then it falls out of trend right away. You will be stuck with an item or then have to sell it for less than what you paid for it. You are here to make money, not lose it. Now that you have done some of your investigation work, let's go to ebay and do some more.

The first thing that you want to do when you reach ebay is to sign in. Once you have signed in you will go to the Buy tab. On this page you are going to see a search bar. Go ahead and type in what you want to search for. This will take you to a page that has several items for sell. Look on the left-hand side of the page (the area that says Refine Search). Scroll down until you see Completed Listings. This will be about half way down the page. Check the box next to Completed Listings. This will refine the search and only show you the items that have recently been completed.

You will notice that some of the prices are in green. These are the items that have sold. The ones that are not in green did not sell. Now you can start analyzing to see what sells and what does not sell. Next, look at the prices of the items that sold. How much did the seller get for the item? Now you know about how much you might end up getting.

The next thing to do is to open up the item. You can do this by clicking on the name of the item. Look at the way that the seller wrote his information about the item. Look at the font colors, font size and font style that the seller used. This will show you how to write yours. Many times the better you write your information, the more money you will get for your item.

Next, go and see how many bids were made on this item. This is located under History. Be sure to click on it to open it up. This information tells you how many people are interested in this type of product. This is great information because even though the bidding may say that there were 9 bids, there may not be 9 people. There may be only a few people bidding against each other. But this information is great because it tells you how popular this item is depending on how many people bid on it. Some more information that you can glean out of this bid area is that it will tell you when the auction started. Once you know when the auction started, then you can look at when it ended and you will know how long the seller kept his auction going. This will tell you how long to keep yours going.

One last way to see what is selling on ebay is to look for sellers that have sold thousands of items. Analyze what they are selling. This might tell you what types of items are currently selling. Obviously, they are doing something correct, so see what they are doing. Don't be afraid to ask them questions. Many are very willing to share ideas with you. So you can see by doing a little bit of investigating, you will not only save yourself a lot of money, but you have the potential of making a lot of money.
