How to Find a PhotoShop Alternative

Milo Martinovich
The first thing I would search for is an open source software which is free. I know of one decent program that has many free downloadable add ons to make it an even better program. Paint.NET is a free program that is used by many graphic designers on the internet. The fact that is it free makes it one of the most enticing.

If you are looking for a higher powered program than Paint.NET but don't want to go all out on PhotoShop search Google for alternatives. Chances are there are many program just as good or better that are a bit cheaper.

If you can't find anything on the net, ask some graphic designers what they use. Some may blow you off and not reply but you might get some responses. I know for a fact that not all graphic designers use PhotoShop so other program will work as long as you know how to work them.

If you have Linux, GIMP is a decent program. It is also free which is a huge advantage over other programs.

Be aware. Some programs may offer the same features as Photoshop but end up being like Microsoft's Paint Program. Don't buy a program before you try at least a 14 day trial or something of that matter.

I would try the free programs first and see if they will work for you. If they do not then move on to programs that cost money. Remember, Photoshop is a very good program so you may never find a program quite like it but you can find some that fit your needs most likely.
