How to Find a Prom Date

Vanessa Houk
Let's face it; prom night is a big deal. Going solo is not the end of the world, but it is a lot more fun to pair off and go out on a date. Especially since it is also a chance to get dressed up and look really good. If you are single and looking for a solution, keep reading for some great tips on finding a quality date for this coming of age event.

Enlist the help of friends. Be honest! Now is not the time to talk big about how a friend of a friend of Johnny Depp's brother is probably going to take you. Tell your good friends that you are looking for a date and ask them to help you network. If your best friend has a boyfriend, ask him if he has any friends who you might be compatible with. Or ask if any of your really good friends have any cousins or exes who they are still friends with who might make an interesting date.

Get creative! You already know what your crush really likes, so incorporate that into a prom invite. Is he into music? Write a funny song about taking you to the prom. Is he a drama boy? Ask him to practice a scene with you that asks him to the prom. Whatever he is passionate about can be a catalyst to taking you the prom, you just have to put your creative side to the test and get to work on it.

Look outside your normal social circle. You might have school pride, but who says your prom date has to go to your school? Take your best friend to a sporting meet that is being held at another school and see if there are some cute guys there. Or visit the skating rink, bowling alley or even the local Starbucks in the mall and get out and meet people. Or if you live in a warm climate, head to your local park with a friend and a Frisbee and boy watch until you see someone cute. The more guys you meet, the better your odds will be at finding that perfect match.

Ask an underclassman. Chances are good that the 10th grade boy, who you catch looking at you sometimes would love to go, and he might be a really fun person. If you're worried about what other people will think, don't be. They are all wrapped up in worrying about what other people are thinking about them.
