But before you go face another day hunting for that one perfect regimen that is truly made for you, there are some important things that you have to determine.
Finding out your skin type is the first step hat you have to make to figure out what kind of skin regimen will best work for you. Determining what type of skin you have and what regimen goes with it is easy.
The first thing you have to do is examine your face. You have to do this in the morning after waking up and before washing your face. Look at yourself in the mirror and gently run your fingers across your t-zone which is basically composed of the forehead, nose and chin. After examining the t-zone, examine your cheeks.
Remember to take note of problems such as oiliness, flakes, irritation or pimple breakouts because these are the things that will determine which skin type is it that you have.
Your skin releases oils overnight, so the next step is to check which parts of your face feels tight and lacks moisture and which parts have enough of the oil in it. During the day, also take note of how many times you used powder or blotting paper on your face to keep the shine away.
If you have enlarged pores on your nose, chin and across your cheekbones. Blemishes appear every now and then. During the day, you also have to put on powder or use blotting paper several times to keep the shine down.
If your skin showed the following signs then you have oily skin. The proper skin regimen would be to stay away from products which are oil based and opt for water based formulas and oil free lotions. Use a refreshing toner in the morning and in the evening after washing your face. Even if you have oily skin, it is still important to moisturize.
Just make sure that you stick to oil free formulas which are water based. Keep your powder and blotting paper handy wherever you go to always look fresh. Use products with salicylic acid during those pimple breakouts.
If your face feels normal and moisturized except for your t-zone area, then you have combination skin. The proper skin regimen would be to choose gentle cleansers and toners to avoid your cheeks from being dry. Also use powder or blotting paper on your t-zone area during the day.
There are a lot of beauty companies right now that have formulated skin care products for those people who have combination skin. The choices are limitless and it all really depends on your budget. What is important is that you now know what to look for.
If your complexion looks dull and you feel tightness across your cheeks and you notice fine lines on your face, then you have dry skin. The proper skin regimen would be to go for creamy cleansers and stay away from clear washes and soaps. These clear cleansers and soaps can be too harsh on your skin and can bring about dryness.
Even if you have dry skin, you still have to use toner, but again go for milky based toners to prevent drying your skin. Use rich moisturizers which are specifically targeted for dry skin.
If your complexion gets easily irritated, then you have sensitive skin. People with sensitive skin are also prone to dryness and the skin tends to react by reddening, breaking out or feeling tender. The proper regimen would be to stay away from products containing fragrance and alcohol. Products with too much fragrance can irritate your skin..
Even if you have sensitive skin, always remember that you still have to tone and moisturize. You just have to find the right products for you to keep those irritations away.
Now that you know what type of skin you have, all you have to do is take note of what products to look for and start your regimen. Stay true to these rituals and you are on your way to a glowing and gorgeous face.
