How to Find Your Routing Number

Knowing your bank routing number can be very important in today's age of electronic payment. You will need it in order to pay using an eCheck, set up automatic payments or transfer money to your PayPal account. Even with this number being as important as it is, many people have no idea how to find this number when you need it. So do not be one of these people. Call your Bank

Often times, you can simply call up the local branch of your bank and simply ask what their routing number is. They will probably need some kind of information from you, like your account number, to ensure you are one of their customers. So just in case, have your bank account information ready before you call. It will save time and frustration on both ends if you do.

Look Online

If you can go online and log into your checking account, you should be able to easily find your routing number. Many times, banks will list this information on their banks website after you log into your account. If you cannot find it easily, simply type "routing number" in the search bar of their website. This should send you to an information page that will tell you where you can find it.

Can't log into your account? No problem. Just go to a site like routingnumbers.org and enter in your banks name and location or search for it by state. This simple site will send you to a list with the routing number information you need. No need for your checking account number and you won't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to.

Take a Look at a Check

If none of these options work for you, it is time to pull out a check for that particular checking account. At the bottom left hand side of the check you will see a string of numbers. The first set of 9 numbers is your banks routing number. Yes, I know, that is just too easy.

Now that you have your routing number, write it down and keep it in a safe place. Having it on hand will keep you from having to find it over and over again. So go ahead and save yourself some time somewhere in the future and simply write it down. You will be thanking your self later. I promise.
