How to Find and Sell Used Children's Clothes on Ebay

You can make extra money selling used children's clothes on eBay. There are thousands of listings on eBay for used kids' clothing. Some people make a lot of money, some none at all. It's all a matter of finding the right clothes to sell, getting them at a good price, and then getting bids by writing your auctions so buyers will find yours out of those thousands of auctions.

If you want to make money selling used children's clothes on eBay, you need to start by doing research. You will need to know the name brands of the clothes that are the most popular, and the best sellers. You can start by researching already completed auctions. eBay lists the completed auctions from the previous two weeks or so. Type in general terms that you are looking for in the search box. Click on the "completed listings" option and click on search. You should use general search terms at first, like "girls clothing lot" or "boys clothing lot 12 months".

Analyze the completed listings. Look for trends in name brands in the completed listings with multiple bids. The more bids an auction has, the better, as the item (or lot of items) is likely to be popular, and something that's searched for regularly. Make a list of name brands that seem to be getting lots of bids. There could be dozens of name brands that are worth selling, so when you are done researching, go through your list and alphabetize it. This way, when you go shopping for used clothes, you can easily check your list to see if a particular brand is popular and worth buying.

One of the best places to find good used kid's clothes is at yard sales. You can spend the summer going to yard sales, and building up your inventory. Summer is a slow time to sell on eBay, but a great time for yard sailing. Then start your auctions in the fall, which is the best time for selling on eBay, and the worst for yard sales. You can also look trough thrift stores for second hand kid's clothing. Second hand kid's clothing stores are usually more expensive than regular thrift stores. But they will usually let you exchange items for credit in their store, so these are good places to take your items that you don't think will sell well on eBay, and get credit for more eBayable items.

Look for clothing that are in excellent condition, ones that look like they are brand new, or nearly so. Look for name brands on your list, but get any clothing that is cute and in great condition, even if it doesn't have a popular name. You will mostly be selling in lots on Ebay, so you can scatter in nice clothes that aren't popular, as long as you have enough name brand clothes to feel good about putting the names in the title of the auction.

Once you have built up a decent sized inventory, start organizing the clothing into categories by size and gender. Put all of your 2T girls clothing into one box, all your 18 month boy's clothing into another, and so on. Sell in lots anywhere from a few items to a hundred. All different sized lots seem to sell about as good as any other.

Put the names of the most popular brands in your auction titles. The more names you can get in there, the better, so don't waste words. Make sure you have at least a few of each name brand in a clothing lot if you plan on using that name in your title. People get mad if there is only one or two of a certain brand, and then a bunch of unpopular name brands making up the bulk of your lot. You can have a scattering of non-name brands, if they are cute and in good condition.
