How to Find Video Game Bargains This Christmas

Keep the Gamers on Your Christmas List Happy While You Save Money

Jennifer Amlie
Everyone loves a bargain. Unfortunately, it can be a chore finding video game bargains. Games usually have a set retail price and that price can be steep. It's not impossible to find bargains on video games, especially during the Christmas season. Here are some tips that will help you put video game bargains under your tree this year.

Finding Video Game Bargains by Trading in Old Games

Do you have a stack of video games you don't play anymore? Then trade them in and get new ones. Last Christmas, I traded in about eight games at GameStop and received $70.00. That's like getting a new video game for free. There are many other places to trade online and off. FYE, Amazon.com, Toys "R" Us and goozex.com are just few places that have trading programs.

Finding Bargains on Video Games by Purchasing Used

Buying used video games is a great way to find a bargain this Christmas. Wal-Mart recently launched its used game store online. GameStop, FYE and Amazon are just a few of the retailers who offer used games. I buy used games all the time and never had a problem with them. Most retailers guarantee that the game will work and some have warranty plans available. You can't find a brand new game for a deep discount used, but it's a great way to save money on titles that you missed when they were released.

Video Game Bargains with the "Greatest Hits"

Every video game system has a "Greatest Hits" selection. These games are widely popular and well-received. Games like BioShock, Resistance, Mad World, Mass Effect, Dead Space, and The Orange Box are all $29.99 and under now. These games also make great Christmas gifts, especially for a new console owner. Here are some video game bargains for the PS3.

Finding Video Game Bargains with Online Shopping

Some online retailers sell new video games under the suggested price. It may not a huge discount, but with free and low cost shipping some online retailers like Amazon and Overstock offer, the savings add up. This is a great way to get video game bargains, especially if you have a lot of gamers on your Christmas list. Also try Ebay auctions, especially for deals on video game consoles.

Look Through the Video Game Bargain Bins

Most stores have "Bargain Bins" were older video games are stocked. These bins may contain classic or hard to find games at a low price if you have the patience to look through all the titles. While this may sound tedious, you can find great video games for a bargain. Keep on eye out for advertisements for bargain bins with newer games.

Finding a video game bargain is a way to save money and give a great gift this Christmas. It may take some patience to compare prices and look through shelves of games at your local store. When you find a great deal, it's worth it and you will make the gamers on Christmas list very happy this year.
