Wanting a vintage wedding with a vintage wedding dress is many young womens dream. There aren't many young woman who haven't spent hours dreaming about their wedding day and how magnificent they want that day to be. Having the perfect wedding is big business. Just look at all of the bridal and wedding magazines on magazine shelves and online. In addition, many communities of substantial size typically host some kind of bridal extravaganza where businesses specializing in weddings host exhibits and fashion shows to help brides to be and their mother's plan the absolute best wedding they can.

If you are a vintage buff and want your wedding to be just like a wedding from the past, these events may not be exactly what you are looking for - especially if you want to use original items from the era you love. Fear not, you can have the wedding of your dream by planning how to locate the items you want to include in your wedding.

One of the first things a bride-to be needs to do is to either buy a wedding planning book from one of the many sources available on line, in a book store, or in a specialty wedding bridal store. If you really want to have a vintage wedding, you may want to develop your own list of wedding planning activities that need to be completed. Either way, a bride-to-be does need to have a master planning document to guide activities, save energy, and ensure everything has been attended to prior to the wedding.

Planning a vintage wedding may simply mean you want to wear a vintage wedding dress and have the bridal party wear vintage attire as well. It can also mean you want to have the flowers, music, pictures, and the food be reflective of the period you choose. As the bride, you (and your fiancé) are the one who make the decisions and plan how to make those decisions a reality.

If you are going to wear a vintage wedding dress, you have several options to choose from. You may be wearing your mother's, grandmother's or other important person's dress. In this scenario, trying the dress on and determining if alterations need to be done is critical. Finding a good seamstress to make the alterations is the next step. You may need to have it dry-cleaned and stains removed if possible.

Another option for finding a vintage wedding dress is to actually make it yourself or have it made. There are many websites that offer vintage sewing patterns for sale and these patterns can date back into the 1800's. If you are making your own dress, you may also want to use vintage wedding fabric. You have to be a bit careful about this as the older the fabric, the more likely it may have imperfections. You can also find vintage sewing patterns to make bridesmaid and flower girl and ring bearer clothing.

A final option for finding a vintage wedding dress and wedding attire for the whole bridal party is to shop at antique shops specializing in vintage wedding attire. Again shopping online for vintage wedding dresses and wedding party attire is a great way to see hundreds of options. It is not as easy to try on as many wedding dresses as you might at a local shop specializing in vintage weddings but it is not impossible.
