How a Firm's Junior Staff Should Handle Ethics Standards

Todd Hicks
Have you ever noticed how the top executives of a firm can be held accountable for how things are handled under their watch? This is useful and necessary; yet, it is not and should not be totally up to those at the top to make sure nobody acts unsavorily. Everyone, including the managers and employees, needs to always do the right thing. You will learn the role of junior staff members in business ethics presentation.

First Thing that needs to be done: The managers, supervisors and workers represent the image of the company as they are the backbone of the company. It is up to them to dress suitably and do everything else they are supposed to.

Second Thing that needs to be done: It needs to be passed down the chain of command. For example, it would be a good idea for the lower-level managers and supervisors to pass the information they have learned about the firm's unwritten rules for acceptable behavior down to those on the bottom rung of the organization.

Third Thing that needs to be done: It is up to you to make your voice heard. Whether you are a regular employee or one of the managers, it is vital for you to suggest any changes you think should be addressed in regard to how others behave to the top brass.

Fourth Thing that needs to be done: You should focus on being helpful. For example, if you notice a character flaw in a fellow worker or one who is under your command, you should point it out to him or her. It would be useful to say, "The way you are presenting yourself is wrong. Let me explain what you must do."

Fifth Thing that needs to be done: You should take the step above a little further, when it is worth it. For example, if someone you have talked to about his conduct has not straightened up, you should consider reporting his rules violations to someone above you.

Sixth Thing that needs to be done: It is your responsibility to keep in mind that the rules are designed to be followed. You must conform to the rules and ethics code your superiors have set.

Seventh Thing that needs to be done: You can help pave the way toward a better atmosphere in the office. You should set a good example by behaving the way you want others to.

You have learned the role of junior staff in business ethics presentation.
