The first step is to give your damaged hair a break. Let it air dry as much as possible. Lay off of the flat iron. You will need to be very careful not to strain or break your hair any more than it already is. You will need to shampoo less. This means only washing your hair a few times a week. I know that may not sound great, but it is necessary to repairing your hair. You also do not want to make the mistake of over conditioning it. This will do nothing but make it limp and flat.
You will need to do a hair treatment 3 times a week for 4 weeks. This will be when you "wash" your hair. The only difference is that your will be doing it backwards. The hair cuticle cannot absorb water and conditioner. You will put your homemade treatment or store bought conditioner on dry hair and wait 20 minutes. This will allow it to drink all of the conditioner, thus allowing your hair to benefit. You will then put in no more than a dime size amount of shampoo and apply it to your roots. This will get rid of any oil on your scalp. Then rinse, and enjoy your silkier hair. Three to four weeks of this ritual and you will see a huge difference in your hair.
Nothing short of cutting off the damage will get rid of it, but being nice to it will help. Try these at home recipes with your repair routine.
Comb just enough mayo through your hair to coat it lightly. Then leave on for 30 minutes
Combine an avocado, one egg yolk and a dash of olive oil and massage it through your hair. As with most of these treatments, leave on for at least 30 minutes. Then shampoo, rinse and condition as normal.
You also need to take precautions in the future to prevent further damage. You should use a boars hair brush. It will distribute hair oil evenly and not pull your hair like synthetic ones. Use a thermal protector when using heat styling products. You also want to be gentle when combing wet hair to prevent breakage. Taking a multivitamin will ensure that the new hair that is growing in will be healthy to begin with. Good luck...and Be nice to your hair.
