How to Fix a Relationship Before it Falls Apart

Tiffany Bell
Is it really possible to fix a relationship when you feel like it is just starting to fall apart on you? If you are determined to make the relationship survive there are certain things that you and your partner can do to attempt to save your relationship from doom.

Fixing a Relationship Is Never Easy

The first thing that you have to realize is that when you attempt to fix a relationship it is not going to be easy and will require work from both people. A relationship is not just a 50/50 give and take. It takes 100% from each person for the relationship to grow and thrive. Before you ever attempt to fix your relationship with your partner you need to make sure that they are on the same page as you and want the relationship to survive.

Fixing a Relationship Will Take Time

A relationship will not be fixed overnight. It can take days, weeks, months, and even years to fully fix a relationship especially after something traumatic like cheating. You can force a relationship to be better. It has to naturally happen over time as there is never a quick fix to anything worth fighting for.

Fix a Relationship by Communicating

Often times a marriage or even friendship gets strained because there is no communication. You can't expect your partner to know what you are thinking or to know what you want unless you tell him. Having communication is key to a successful relationship and without it no type of relationship will survive. Tall to your partner as well as really listen when they are talking to you. Make time to sit down and talk about what is going on with you. Some people have a hard time sharing their feelings but if you are really serious about your partner you should be able to open up to them.

Fix a Relationship by Finding Common Interest and Spending Time Together

At one point in your relationship did you enjoy doing things together? Try to find some common interest with your partner were you can spend some time together doing things you both like to do. This could simply involve going to the park and taking a walk or it could mean going to a museum in the city. It can also involve hobbies such as playing sports or collecting items. Finding that common interest and doing it together can bring back that special feeling that you had in the beginning.

Fix a Relationship by Being Honest

Nothing good ever comes by lying to your partner. I'm not talking about saying "no" when your wife asks you if she looks fat in an outfit. I'm talking about the serious lies or even lies by omission that can bring relationships down. Don't lie about what you have done, where you have been, who you have been talking to and what your feelings are. When you lie about these things you only bring your relationship down. Almost 100 percent of the time one lie leads to another to another and no relationship can survive like that.

Remember that there is no perfect relationship. Stop trying to attempt to have a perfect relationship and just try to fix the relationship so that you and your partner are happy with what you have.
