Step 1: Remove the dryer from the wall and unplug it so the back of the dryer is exposed. You may also have to detach the dryer vent in order to work with the back of the dryer.
Step 2: Disassemble your dryer, using the owner's manual as a guide until the dryer belt around the drum of the machine is exposed.
TIP: In many instances, you can remove the top panel, exposing the dryer belt. Look for screws to release the panel: they may be concealed within the opening of the dryer.
Step 3: Make a mark on the belt with chalk. This mark should be easily visible.
Step 4: Apply the belt dressing to the underside of the dryer belt, starting on one side of the chalk mark. In most cases, the belt dressing will be sold in a spray can for easily application. Be sure to apply it to the underside of the belt, where the belt meets the drum.
As you spray the belt, use your other hand to rotate the drum of the dryer. This will ensure that you cover the entire belt with the belt dressing. Stop when you reach the chalk line; indicating that the belt has rotated an entire turn.
Step 5: Replace any parts you had to remove from the dryer to gain access to the dryer belt. Plug in the dryer, reattaching the dryer vent if you had to remove it. Return the dryer to its proper location.
Step 6: Try drying a full load of laundry in your dryer. After the first few rotations, the squeak should be gone completely. If it isn't, you'll have to consider replacing the belt, or learning live with the sound.
