How to Make Flash Superhero Birthday Party Invitations

Lyn McCallister
If your child asks for a superhero themed birthday party, you can easily find Superman, Batman, or Spiderman party invitations. However, when your child requests one of the other superheroes such as the Flash, you may have a difficult time finding pre-made invitations to purchase. One option is to create an Alchemy (custom) request on Etsy, a site for handmade items, or you and your child can have fun making and designing your own invitations.

Who is the Flash? He is a superhero with super-speed powers. He can run and move very fast and has superhuman reflexes. He wears a red uniform with a distinctive lightning bolt symbol.

The Flash Birthday Party Invitation Concept

The Flash has a pretty simple symbol on his superhero uniform - a white circle with a yellow lightning bolt. The idea for the paper invitation is to recreate this symbol as the main focus of the invitation.

Supplies Needed:

8.5 x 11 inch red cardstock
White cardstock
Bright yellow cardstock
Black marker
Pencil
Glue
Scissors

Step-by-Step Instructions to Create the Flash Superhero Birthday Party Invitations

1. Take the 8.5 x 11 inch red cardstock paper and fold the edges together on the long side. Crease firmly.

2. Take the folded red cardstock and fold it in half. Crease and fold open.

3. Cut along the crease to get 2 cards out of each piece of red cardstock. You should have a folded card that is approximately 5.5 inches long by 4.25 inches wide.

4. Use the pencil to draw a 2 inch diameter circle on the white paper.

5. Trace around the edges of the white circle with the black marker. This black accent helps to make the Flash symbol really pop out on your card.

6. Cut out the white circle.

7. Glue the white circle to the middle front of the red card.

8. Use the pencil to draw a lightning bolt on the yellow paper. The lightning bolt will be placed diagonally across the white circle and should extent past the circle on each end.

9. Trace around the edges of the of the yellow lightning bolt with the black marker to accent it as you did to the white circle.

10. Cut out the lightning bolt.

11. Glue to the front of the card, positioning it over the white circle.

12. Use the black marker to write the words "Calling all Superheroes" on the front of the card above the Flash symbol.

13. Write the words " is years old!" on the front of the card below the Flash symbol. Substitute your child's actual name where the brackets are and use the correct age.

14. Write the party details using the black marker on the inside of the card.

15. Repeat these steps to make enough birthday party invitations for all your guests.

Creative Options:

1. Young children love glitter. You can enhance the yellow lightning bolt by applying some gold or yellow glitter.

2. Make a digital card instead of a paper card. Use your favorite graphics program to draw the elements. Once your design is complete, send it to your favorite printing company. See the article photo for an example of a digital version of the Flash birthday party invitation, created using Corel Paint Shop Pro.
