1-- Upload photos
Once you get started with Flickr, you need to upload photos (or video), click on "you" and select "upload photos and videos".
Once you start uploading photos, it's imprtant that you upload a buddy icon (a photo that represents you when you make posts), if you don't, people might think you are a hacker and not look at your photos.
To do this--- simply click on your photo (the default photo) and select "your buddy icon" and choose a pictue of you.
Note: you can only upload videos 90 seconds in length.
2-- Join Groups
You can search for groups on Flickr about any of your interests, if you are interested in photography of flowers, search for it until you find a result you like. Join the group and add photos to the group pool, groups also have discussions, and photo contests.
You can create your own group about any subject you want, they have a lot of options on who can see your content.
3-- Organize and Create
Click on "organize & create", with this feature you can make "sets" which are groups of photos taken in the same location or about the same suject.
Like let's say i wanted to organize all the blue photos in my photo stream, then i would click on "organize & create" and select "Make a set" and drag all the photos that have something blue in them together.
Collections are a several sets organized together, for example: I have a set about photos with red in them, another with yellow, another with green, so I can make a collection about colors.
4-- Contacts
Sometimes you find the profile of a person that has similar interests or some photos that you like, you can bookmark them by adding them to your contacts, so you can see the photos they upload.
If someone wants to contact you, they can send you a message though flickrmail.
