Instructions for Folding a Fitted Sheet
Put an index finger into a corner of the sheet. Follow the sheet's edge until you get to the next corner. Put your other index finger in that corner.
Fold the second corner onto the first corner so that your first index finger is in both of the corners.
Using your free hand, find a third corner of the sheet and fold it onto the first two, lining up the corners so that your index finger is in all three.
Do the same with the fourth corner, being sure not to twist the sheet but to fold it neatly into fourths with your index finger in all corners.
Lay down the folded fitted sheet.
Tidy up the sheet edges so that the sheet is folded into fourths.
Carefully remove your index finger from the four corners and lay the sheet out flat. The two elastic edges will naturally fold over.
Gently encourage the natural fold of the elastic edges, creating a nice straight rectangle.
Fold the bottom half of the sheet lengthwise up to the middle; fold the top half down to meet it. Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, where the two ends meet.
You should have a nice smooth piece of sheet, roughly 4x1 feet.
Instructions for Folding a Flat Sheet
Fold the flat sheet once widthwise and once lengthwise, into fourths.
Fold the flat sheet twice lengthwise to get a long rectangle.
Lay the rectangle out flat.
Instructions for Folding Pillowcases
Fold each pillowcase belonging to the set in half lengthwise. Fold in half widthwise twice, making a small square.
Instructions for Making a Sheet Packet
Lay the folded fitted sheet rectangle in the center of the folded flat sheet rectangle.
Fold each end of the stack of sheets toward the middle.
Place the folded pillowcases on one half of the folded sheets.
Fold the packet in half where the two ends meet, over the pillowcases.
Place the folded sheet packet with the fold facing out on the linen closet shelf.
