1. Go to Start, and then open up your MyDocuments folder.
2. Right click on any blank space you see there and then go to new. Chose to create a new folder; folder is the first option that should popup after scrolling over New.
Tip: If you don't want to do this, you can go to File, New, then click on Folder there to create a new folder.
3. Once you have your new folder showing up there on your MyDocuments screen, right click on it.
Note: If you are asked to rename it then you can do so, if not you always have the option to rename the folder at a later time.
4. Hit properties from the menu that comes out and then wait for the New Folder Properties window to come up.
Note: If you don't see the properties option then you're not viewing the proper menu and you should try to click for it again.
5. Look for the Attributes options, and check the Hidden box, and then hit Ok. Now you shouldn't be able to see the new folder you created.
Tip: Do not click on anything else on the New Folder Properties window unless you know what you're doing. If you would like to attempt more things, you should be doing it with a folder which you have no use for such as this sample folder perhaps.
6. In order to view your hidden files, click on the Tools option at the top of your window and scroll down to Folder Options.
7. Open up the Folder Options window and then look for the View tab and select it.
8. Look for the Hidden files and folders options there; there should be two options.
9. Select the Show hidden files and folders one then hit ok. This should now enable you to see a ghost icon that is your new folder.
Tip: If at a later time you would like to not show your hidden files, just follow the above steps and chose that instead of "Show hidden files and folders." The option to not show these folders will be right above that one.
Now that you know how to create visible and invisible folders and then how to turn them like that, you should try it yourself. It's a great thing to know how to do if you're going to let someone else use your computer temporarily or if you just don't want things visible when you're showing someone something on your computer.
