How to Use Folklore to Determine the Sex of Your Unborn Child

Ultrasound seems to be the only sure fire way to find out the sex of the unborn child. However many parents to be, choose not to know the sex of their baby, until the day of birth. In the meantime it is a lot of fun to speculate on the gender through folklore and old wives tales.

These are just a few of the many ways that have been handed down from generation to generation to determine the sex of your child.

1. Loop a piece if string through your wedding band. Hold the ring by the thread and let it dangle either over the palm of your hand or over your stomach. Hold the string still. If it starts to swing back and forth your child will be a boy. If the ring swings in a circle your baby will be a girl.

2. Get the expecting woman to pick up a key, car key, house key it doesn't matter just any key will do. If she picks the key up by the round part, she will be having a boy, if she picks it up by the other end a girl and if she picks it up in the middle, she will be having twins.

3. If your food cravings are for salty or sour foods you will have a boy. If you crave sweet foods, a girl.

4. If during pregnancy you are moody, aggressive and suffer from morning sickness, you are having a girl. If you are full of happiness and love with always a smile upon your face, you will be having a boy.

5. Urinate in a glass jar. Add a teaspoon of drain-o. If the mixture turns blue your baby will be a boy, if the mixture turns green, your baby will be a girl.

6. Ask the pregnant woman to show you her hands. If she shows them to you palms up she is having a girl, if she shows them palms down, it will be a boy.

7. To ensure having a girl, put a wooden spoon and a pair of scissors under your bed. Then place a pink ribbon under your pillow.

8. If you carry the baby low, it will be a boy. Girls are carried high.

9. If you carry all of your weight in front of your body, you will give birth to a boy. It the weight is carried in back, around your hips it will be a girl.

10. If the babies heart rate is high it will be a girl. a slower heart beat determines a boy.

11. If the mother to be suffers from acne, her baby will be a girl.

12. If the pregnant woman has uneven breasts she will deliver a boy.

These steps, that are suppose to tell you the sex of your child may not be accurate, but who is to say that they aren't? These methods were used long before the ultrasound was ever invented.

In the end, when your baby is born, you will have forgotten that you even cared what sex he/she was. All that matters is that you are holding your child in your arms.
