It is against Helium's wishes to use indentation in your paragraphs. All of your paragraphs should be left-justified, or begin at the left side of the page. One thing you should avoid doing is starting your paragraphs toward the center or right side. Another thing you should avoid doing is starting your first paragraph as far to the left as possible then starting each subsequent paragraph a space to the right like you might do on a term paper.
You should not write your article as one long paragraph. The first reason is that it is unpleasing to the eye and hard to read. The second is that it is likely to have a negative effect on your article's ranking. The third is that it is against Helium's rules. It is best to split your article into multiple paragraphs that do not contain more than a maximum of six sentences.
You have to avoid excessive spacing. One reason is that it can hurt your writing score. Another is that it is a violation of the user agreement. If you want to double-space your paragraphs while writing your draft in Microsoft Word before submitting your article, that is fine. Once you paste your draft into the text box in the submission process, you will need to change it so that there is only one line between each paragraph before you hit the publish button.
You will not make Helium happy by writing in a list-like style. They consider submissions that mostly consist of paragraphs that contain two or fewer sentences to be lists. Your paragraphs should have at least three sentences. After you write your introductory paragraph, it is a good idea to write each following paragraph by saying what the reader should do then give at least two reasons why it should be done.
You also must pay attention to organization and how you use headers. If you have two or more ideas that are similar, you should discuss all of them in connecting paragraphs. When using headers, you should capitalize the first word and avoid capitalizing the verbs and adverbs. If you just capitalize the first word, that is fine.
You have learned how to format the articles you publish for Helium. By following these steps, you will boost your writing scores and avoid having your work deleted.
