You can redirect forum users to your website by placing a link in your signature. Some forums don't allow this and you have to become a member for some time in others for they to allow you have a signature.
There are some rules and advice you need to consider when taking part on a forum. The idea of being in a forum is to take part of a community. For this very reason you need to be respectful to all forum users. You may disagree on their posts or have an opposite opinion, but if you start insulting then you won't build a good reputation and you will be banned.
There are steps you must follow in order to do forum marketing effectively; you won't get any traffic if your website is about porn and you join a Christian forum. First you need to start with research. If you don't do this you will be wasting your resources like time and money. Based on your niche, find the most relevant and popular forums in the same subject. The next step is to select just the most relevant forums. Choose the forums with the most members; there are forums in almost all areas with thousands of members. Join them and concentrate your efforts.
By being a member of too many forums you won't have the time to interact with the other users effectively. Choose only the 2 or 3 biggest forums in your niche and start reading posts, making posts and answering questions. Before making the final selection make sure the forum allows you to add a signature with a link at the end, if not don't join it.
Once you join the forums you selected, it is time to make your signature. Don't overdo this; your signature must be short, and contain a link to your blog or website. Then tweak it overtime until you see the best results. Once your signature is ready you must start posting.
A forum is not an advertising venue. It is a place where people share experiences and help one another in a variety of topics. If you join a forum and you start placing advertisement for your website you will lose all respect from the community and you may even get banned. You must share your opinion, place helpful content and never mention anything about your business. If people are interested they will visit your site.
