How I Found My Perfect Wedding Dress

Getting engaged is an exciting and also stress-inducing event in many women's lives. I recently found out how exciting an engagement can be and one of the first things that I wanted to do was pick my wedding dress. On a whim, after being engaged for only a week, I decided to go browse the local bridal store.

My mom and I went to the bridal store with no intentions of buying a dress that evening. I had not done any preliminary research and didn't have a clue what I was looking for. But I had my credit card and that's all that mattered. I would recommend going online and looking for styles that you like and also setting a budget before you go to the bridal store.

We arrived at the shop and found that the employees were overly eager to help me try on dresses. Despite my hesitation, my mom insisted and I ended up in a dressing room at the bridal store. For those of you who have never tried on wedding dresses, it isn't actually a comfortable experience. Getting mostly undressed in front a stranger who had to put the dress on me was not the high point of my week. I would suggest shaving your legs and making sure you have attractive undergarments on, not that the assistant cares but it will make you feel more comfortable.

The first dress I tried on was cute but it wasn't me. The second dress I put on was "the one." I knew as soon as I walked out of the dressing room that this was my dress. I fell in love with it and was absolutely certain that this was my dress. Despite the fact that I was in love with the dress, I tried on 23 more dresses. The entire time I was trying on the other dresses, I was getting more and more irritated. I felt like I was a Barbie doll and was glad when the bridal assistant asked if I wanted to put the dress back on that I liked so much.

When I got back into "my dress," I knew that this was the dress for me. In the dress, I felt comfortable, but best of all I felt like the most beautiful woman in the world. When looking for your dress, keep in mind that you will be the center of attention on your big day. You want a dress that you can spend hours in but you also want to feel like the princess that you are.

Shopping for a wedding dress can be a very stressful experience but you should try and relax and enjoy the experience since this will be a moment you will remember for the rest of your life.
