How to Get a Free $5 Check from Magazines.Com

Obtaining free money through Magazines.com is easier than you might think. They are known to have many sales and promotions offering discounts off their magazines, private sales only known to their customers via email newsletter, and coupon codes to take a certain amount of money off the price of a subscription. What they don't tell you is that they occasionally also have promotions that actually give away free money, in the form of a check. They will send out email notices announcing you can use a promotional gift card to use on their website. What many have failed to see due to the fine print on the bottom of these emails, is that the gift card can actually be redeemed for a real check!

Here are the steps to getting your hands on your own $5 check from Magazines.com. Sometimes they even send out $10 promotions, so be sure to keep your eye on this as well. These can be redeemed more than once, but be sure you only have one email account and use your own name and address in the redemption area for your check.

1. Go to https://www.magazines.com/account/add and create an account.

2. Now you're enrolled in their email newsletter.

3. Be on the lookout for an email in the upcoming months (sometimes much sooner) with the subject heading of "$5 Gift Card Enclosed". As previously mentioned, sometimes, but rarely, they will even do a $10 promotion which is even better.

4. Scroll down the email, and in fine print, you will see "Redeem for cash at: http://www.magazines.com/cash" (or something similar, but NOT a coupon)

5. Enter your information on the site, as well as your "gift card code" from the email.

6. They will then send you a check in the amount of $5 to your home. It usually takes a few weeks to arrive.

Be aware that emails that announce that you have a "coupon code enclosed" are not the same as a gift card and cannot be redeemed for cash. Those can only be used as coupons on their site. These usually are sent out 2-3 times a year, but when they do, it is worth the couple of minutes to redeem for a check.

Reminds me of Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" song!
