How to Get Free Christmas Pictures with Santa Clause
Santa Clause is Coming to Town and it Doesn't Cost a Penny to Have Your Picture Taken with Him
All you have to do is bring your camera and take the pictures yourself. I'm not sure how many people are aware of this fact, but when I pull out my camera on line to meet Santa Clause; most parents are surprised that personal photography is allowed.
Some parents get annoyed when they realize you are about to take your own photographs. I'm not sure, but maybe they are jealous that they didn't think of it first, or maybe they are snobbish and feel as though you should pay for pictures too. Whatever the reason, don't let it distract you into rushing when its time for you to take your pictures.
Before you get to the front of the line make sure your camera is ready. I suggest that you use the automatic (auto) setting on your camera. This way you don't have to fidget with any of the settings when it's your turn to meet Santa.
When it is your turn, one of Santa's little helpers will unclip the velvet rope and get ready to present you to the King of Christmas, Santa Clause. When they do, just let them know that you will be taking your own photographs. Most of Santa's Elves will slow down the line just by a minute to let you set up your shot, but a minute goes a long way. I have even had Santa himself give me extra time to snap a few photographs.
When your child gets settled do not try to make them sit a certain way, or make them look at the camera and smile right away. As they are chatting with Santa Clause snap as many pictures as you can. Do not worry about what everyone else is doing; just concentrate on your Childs precious moment with Santa Clause. You can snap off as many as 20 photographs in 60 seconds if you focus on the moment and stay calm during the process. Santa will queue your child to look at you and smile when the time comes.
Sometimes things don't go as smoothly as planned. If your time with Santa turns out to be a disaster, don't panic, just politely ask for a little more time and you will most certainly get it. Santa and his helpers are all about good will toward mankind, they will usually go above and beyond if you ask for a little help. So if your trip to see Santa isn't what you expected go with the flow and be sure not to leave without the photograph you came for.
You don't need an expensive camera to take award winning photographs; all you need is patients and desire.
When you finally view the photographs that you took of your child and Santa Clause you will most likely find that the pictures you took yourself are far better than any you could have had taken for you, and you will have saved some money in the process.
You don't have to only take your own photographs with Santa Clause, in the spring you can take your own photographs of your child with the Easter Bunny too. So, grab your camera and save some money. Getting your picture taken with Santa Clause is great but getting your picture taken with Santa Clause for free is even better.
Happy Holidays.

Post a CommentIt is a shame that AC Contributor even wrote that email. I fully understand that photographers need to make a living. I also understand that the prices charged by these photographers are RIDICULOUS. Even if I can afford to buy the pictures, why should I be charged an arm and a leg? At our local mall, the cheapest package is $30, and you only get a 5x7 with six wallets for that price. That is $30 I can put towards my child's Christmas gifts (or holiday dinner for that matter). Not to mention that MOST (not all)photographers charge the business that they are set up at a fee for their services. So on top of the couple of hundred dollars the business pays them to bring in more customers, they are making a killing of these poor parents struggling to provide for their children during the holiday season. It's a shame, seriously.
Oh, and I like how AC Contributor says that they are probably still the "less fortunate". Isn't this the same person who was bragging about h
Here is the message she sent me back:Janet: I had no idea and I do apologize. I'm just struggling trying to make it and it's so hard out there.
In a heart beat, if a mom came to me who was in that situation, I'd GIVE her pictures of her kids with Santa.
I didn't know the situation and every situation is, truly, different.
You are right and I wouldn't take my machine out in the mall, anyway.
I have a studio and plan on doing my Santa pictures right there.
I do lots of "freebies" to get my name out, help others and practice.
You are right. . we do have freedom of speech. . let's just hope that the ones who are truly in need will speak up and ask and I'm sure that someone would be happy to do their pictures for them. I know I would.
My "angry" statement was more geared to people who CAN afford it and just want something free. There are a lot, out there, who do that.
Again, please accept my apology. I have needed a helping hand and I have been less fortunate and probably still am.
Here is my message back:Wow! When I was a victim of domestic violence I was living in a shelter with my children for Christmas. We had no money and were lucky to be alive. I took the kids so see Santa and was able to take a picture with my own camera. Now every time I look at that photograph I can only see the love. If I hadn't been able to take that picture there would have been one Christmas memory gone with the rest of that dreadful year. If you are angry about my article, well, too bad, we still have freedom of speech in America last I heard. Good for you, with your big money Virtual Background Machine! Try not being so angry, may the lord bring you compassion for those less fortunate. Some day it may be you who needs a helping hand. And with all my heart I will encourage people to do what Jesus would do. Try it sometime.
This was a recent message I received from an AC Contributor:
Janet, regarding free pictures with Santa Clause.
It is sad that you would write something like that. Photographers are there to make a living.
I purchased the Virtual Background machine. Should I ever sit up at a mall, and someone flash a camera at my screen (santa and their child) it will wash out their picture altogether. I wish more photographers would do this and it would prevent parents from cheaping out on Santa pictures. It's really sad that they do it much less that they are encouraged to do so.
People should belive in Santa I do I saw him at my house at night
Where do you think of these ideas? But...again...that's why I love you so much!
What an ingenious idea! Thanks for sharing it. :-)
very fun article enjoyed this!
LOL! Oh, my, five stars for this clever free Christmas photo with Santa idea! You are a genius! :-)
Wonderful article! I love!!!!
Great article, Janet. I remember the day when Crystal was between one and two years old, she was always frightened the sight of the Santa Claus at the mall. I had to get her brother to go over there with her before she would be quiet and actually sit on Santa's lap. Unfortunately, she liked the Easter Bunny! No problem there!
