How to Make Friends If You Are Shy

Chrisdavy
We all know that shyness can be debilitating when it comes to meeting people. However, there are ways you can use shyness to your advantage to meet new people, and here's how.
  1. Use Youtube to showcase your talent and give you confidence.

If you are good at an activity, use that to draw people and attention to you. Everybody wants to be around talented people. If you are too shy to do anything in front of anyone, fear not. Use Youtube and put the video up. The great thing about Youtube is that you don't have to tell anyone. People just naturally come and will comment if you wait long enough.

  2. Ask new friends about things you must do but can't.

Youtube usually spreads like wildfire around high school, but if it doesn't, or you're not in high school, you can still use shyness to your advantage.

Ask one of the nice people around to help you with something you can't do. They will usually be happy to advise someone who really wants to know, and in the course of that conversation, you will naturally get to know each other.

Things that you have to do but can't are usually the best to ask about. Like a book report you can't quite get, or a work assignment that requires help.

  3. Don't be afraid to use other people to help you overcome shyness.

Once you've made that one connection, you can confide in that person about your shyness. Chances are that he/she noticed it anyway, and will help you out of it. After all, you've already got them in a helping mood.

Don't be afraid to use other people to help you overcome shyness and make new friends.
