How to Make Friends Outside of School

Jerry
Making friends in highschool is usually quite easy. Making friends in any public schools is actually quite easy. Since you're around people all day, and are consistently forced to work with other people, you're bound to make friends whether you really like it or not.

People like having friends in highschool to help them make it through the day. Friends are entertaining, and give us something to look forward to every day. Many people wouldn't even go to school if it weren't for the friends that showed up there as well.

The real problem is how to make friends after you've graduated from high school. Or maybe even during the summer. Perhaps you've moved into a new area right before or during summer. How are you supposed to meet friends to hangout with over the entire summer?

This process can be quite difficult, no matter how cool you are. The easiest way is to just get out there. Get outside. Be around as many people as you can. Accept every opportunity to meet new people that you can, regardless of how dumb the event or people may seem.

Here are a few ways someone who isn't constantly exposed to people through school can make friends:

Look around your Neighborhood
One easy way to find friends is to simply take a look around your neighborhood. There are often kids your age outside hanging out, playing basketball, etc. Simply ask if they need another player, and tell them you're new to the neighborhood.

Regardless of where you've moved to, kids in most places are going to be nice enough to allow you to join them. Just think to yourself, if a new kid wanted to play basketball, you would allow him or her, correct? People in general attempt to be nice to new kids.

After School Activities
If you still have the option to sign up for some sort of activity offered by the school, perhaps a sport that's played during the summer, this is another great way to meet potential new friends. The problem with this is simply the availiability of these activities during the summer.

Camp and Clubs
Summer camps, and clubs make it very easy to make friends. In fact, the objective to most summer camps and clubs is to make more friends. This is probably mainly for younger kids. Don't expect to find a decent camp at the age of 16.

Work Part-Time
Working part-time will have you constantly out in the real world. If you can do this, you're much more likely to meet people. Spark up conversations whenever you get the chance. Get phone numbers, make dates. It's all fun once you start working because you'll have money and look good as well!

If you follow some of the methods of making friends listed above, you'll have friends in no time!
