How to Frost the Perfect Layer Cake
  1. Before you pour the cake batter into the pan, grease the pan with butter; and put a sheet of parchment paper in the cake tin - with the paper hanging over the edges.
  2. Bake the Cake
  3. When the cake is done baking, take it out of the oven and pull it out with the parchment paper.
  4. Place the cake on a cake stand/cutting board and cut the top of the cake of, so the top is even and not round.
  5. Brush off any excess crumbs from the cake.
  6. Take a frosting knife/bread knife (for me either works well; if you have a preference of knife - then use your preference).
  7. Stick it into the frosting (home-made or pre-made) and stir the frosting around.
  8. You can either take a "glob" of the frosting on the knife, or you can take a "glob" of frosting on a spoon and put it in the center of the cake.
  9. Take your knife and slowly spread it in a circular and straight motion across the cake. Spreading it to all sides.
  10. When you are done, repeat step 4 and 5 on the second cake.
  11. Very carefully place the second cake on top of the first cake.
  12. Repeat Steps 6 through 9
  13. If you want to frost the sides, take a "glob" of frosting on the knife, and slowly spread it onto the sides.
  14. Cut and ENJOY!
