A frosted pine cone wreath is extremely easy to make, and is a great way to use pine cones that have fallen from pine trees around your home. These beautiful wreaths can be used for years to come, and will brighten up your home for the holidays.
To make a frosted pine cone Christmas wreath you will need:
Pine cones
Wire wreath frame
Hot glue gun
White frosting spray
Thin red or green craft ribbon
Newspaper
1. Lay the newspaper out flat on an even work surface.
2. Line the pine cones up on top of the newspaper.
3. Spray the top of the pine cones with an even coat of white frosting spray. Allow the pine cones to dry completely before proceeding.
4. Flip the pine cones over and spray the back of each of them with an even coat of white frosting spray. Allow the pine cones to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
5. Using the hot glue gun, attach each of the pine cones to the wire wreath frame. You will need to work quickly, as the hot glue will dry quickly and the pine cones will not stick to the wire as well if the glue is partially tacky.
6. Cut one strip of ribbon to tie between each pine cone. Depending on the width of the wire frame, you will likely need a three to five inch strip of ribbon for each.
7. Tie each ribbon into a tight, secure bow in between the pine cones.
8. Hang the wreath where desired.
You can add extra décor and detail to this wreath by painting a light coat of silver glitter paint over the top of the pine cones. Decorative Christmas themed ribbon can also be used in place of solid red or green ribbon. Ribbon with images of gingerbread men, snowmen, snowflakes, candy canes or Santa's are all appropriate choices for your frosted pine cone Christmas wreath.
