How to make a Holiday Gift tag.

The first thing you will need to do is decide on the design of your tag. For this example we will make a square holiday gift tag. It will be red in color with patterned paper on the front. It will have a hole punch on the top that will be used for the ribbon tie-on.

You need to gather all your materials; one piece of cardstock, one piece of patterned paper, one hole punch, scissors, ribbon and adhesive.

1. Cut your piece of cardstock to measure 3" tall by 2" wide.

2. Cut your patterned paper to measure 2 ½" tall by 1 ½" wide.

3. Using tape or glue, adhere the patterned paper to the cardstock.

4. Punch a hole in the top center of the tag. Place a piece of fiber or ribbon for a tie-on.

Holiday tags can be as simple or complicated as you would like them to be.

Some examples of holiday tag designs:

-circle tags with snowflakes

-square tags with pictures on them

-snowman shaped tags

-stars

-gingerbread men

-stocking shapes

-candy cane shapes

-Christmas tree tags

The key is to use different scrapbooking techniques to create one of a kind tags. Try to experiment with stamping images instead of using patterned paper. Dry emboss it with some silver or gold embossing powder. Use a heat tool and heat emboss an image. Create paper piecings of holiday subjects such as Santa Claus or reindeer and attach those.

Another good idea is to coordinate your supplies. Make matching tags, holiday cards and wrapping paper is sure to give all your presents a beautiful, eye catching appearance.
