Bath bombs are are a great way to enjoy a relaxing bath. They provide moisture to help nourish the skin and they smell wonderful. Just drop one into your tub of water and watch as the fizzing begins. You can learn how to make your own fizzy bath bombs, just follow the directions below.

Fizzy Bath Bombs
Dry Ingredients
4 ounces (114g) Baking Soda
2 ounces (57g) Citric Acid
2 ounces (57g) Corn Starch
2 ounces (57g) Epsom Salts

Wet Ingredients
2 teaspoons Water
1/2 teaspoon Fragrance (of your choice)
1 tablespoon Oil ( I use Coconut Oil)
1 or 2 drops of food color

Mold Options
Rubber ice cube trays
Pack into an ice cream cone scoop
Press very firmly between your hands
Push into candy molds
Clear plastic two-part Christmas ornament balls make great molds and come in several sizes.
Plastic Easter eggs work too
Also many places on line sell bath bomb molds and they aren't expensive.

Directions
1. Start by weighing the dry ingredients. You should always measure by weight when making bath bombs.
2. Once you have weighed the dry ingredients, put them in a plastic or glass bowl and set aside.
3. Now measure your wet ingredients and mix them all in a plastic or glass bowl. They won't mix perfectly, and that's o.k. You will have approx. 2 tablespoons total of wet ingredients. Maybe you won't need that entire amount. Depends on the weather that day. If it's raining you'll need less moisture. But more on that later.
4. Start adding the wet ingredients to the dry mix one teaspoon at a time. Don't add more than that amount at once because the mix will start reacting. Whisk the mix at the same time you're adding the liquid.
5. When you have added two teaspoons, test your mix by pinching a little bit in your hand. If it stays together and feels damp, your mix is ready. If it falls apart, keep adding liquid, 1/2 teaspoon at a time and testing the mix after each addition. The finished mix should feel like damp sand in your hands. It should not feel wet. If you think you have added too much liquid, add a little corn starch as needed.
6. Next fill the mold you chose with some of the mix. Add as much as you need so the powder is compressed in the mold, it should be tight. I recommend leaving it in the mold until it's completely dry.
7. Once they have dried completely. Carefully remove them from the mold onto wax paper, baking parchment, plastic wrap, baking sheet or other flat surface.
8. Let your bombs dry at least 4 days in a very dry place. If they are small they may be ready before this. The added drying time seems to help them from crumbling later.
9. Store the bombs in a closed container to keep fresh or wrap individually in plastic bags or plastic wrap.
Tip

If you want to make some bath bombs for children, you can add small toys to the center when molding them and as they start to fizzle away the toy will be re veiled. What a special treat.
Hard to find items

Most of the materials required can be purchased through craft stores, drug stores, health stores and Wal Mart. If there is something you can't find there are many places on line where they can be obtained.

Not only are fizzy bath bombs fun to make, they also make great gifts for family and friends.
