There are many hotels in Windsor which also are walking distance away from the Casino and local bars. Casino Windsor Hotel, Travelodge, Hilton Windsor, Radisson Riverfront Hotel, and the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Suites are just a quick sample of the lodging in the area. I have stayed at the Casino Hotel many times, and the service and convenience of staying right above the casino is wonderful.
Casino Windsor (www.casinowindsor.com) is a large casino on the riverfront which has all the standard table games and slots that even Las Vegas is known for. They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Craps, roulette, blackjack, 3 card poker, baccarat, and Let it Ride are samples of some of their games. They also have a poker room located on the 2nd floor called Poker Place. If you are decent at poker it is very easy to make money in their poker room as it attracts a lot of beginners and gamblers. They also recently added in a sports book along with a sports bar to bet on sports. The sports bar also has great food along with many TVs to watch the games that people are betting on. The casino was recently renovated in a Caesar's theme. The casino also offers other restaurants and bars. The lobby bar is nice and open and has a nice airy feel to it. The Vu Bar is a recent addition and is only open from evening till 2. The drinks in the VU are 1.5 oz and are priced accordingly. It also has a nice futuristic feel to it which goes along nicely with the view of the Detroit skyline. The artist café is a great place to eat which is open 24 hours a day. Great food and great service equals an amazing time. You will not go thirsty or hungry inside this casino!
If you are under 21 then Windsor is an amazing place to make a trip to. The legal age for gambling and drinking is 19 compared to 21 in the states. In the downtown area there are many bars and nightclubs which are located all within walking distance of one another, as well as many hotels in the city. My personal favorites include Peppers, Treehouse, VooDoo, and Rush. Another favorite is Papa Cheney's which has a grand view of Detroit at night from their 2nd floor lounge. Peppers and Treehouse is your best bet for some great lunch. I have eaten at Peppers three times and the food remains to taste great and exceed my expectations. Treehouse is another great place for lunch and some drinks. I have eaten there 3 times and I have tried the cheeseburger and the grilled chicken sandwich there. Both items tasted amazing as well as being a good value. You will not be disappointed with the selection of places to go at night in Windsor!
You should find this review of Windsor, Canada enlightening and helpful for your visit. And remember there is no passport required when passing the border by land from America until 2008. If you are flying you will need a current passport. All you need when going through the border patrol is official documents such as birth certificate, driver's license, and social security card.
Have fun in this great city!
