How to Gain Weight Fast

Sarah Rachel
Gaining weight fast is possible, as is losing weight quickly. You need to be consistent if you want to gain weight quickly. The University of Michigan Health says making several changes in your life like adding more 500 more calories and fat to your diet can cause you to gain weight. Protein also helps to build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. You can also select foods that contain healthy fats like avocados and nuts. Healthy fats are omega three fatty acids.

Whole Milk

Rather than drinking fat-free or skin milk, choose whole milk. Whole milk is nutritious, but this type of milk is also loaded with fat. If you want to gain weight fast you need to eat a good amount of fat. Drink a large glass of whole milk each morning and evening. However, if you are lactose intolerant, choose whole goats milk or another substitute like almond milk.

Protein

Protein can help you gain weight the healthy way because it helps to build muscle. Hair, skin and muscle is made up of various types of protein. The body uses protein from the foods we eat to construct our cells. Eat protein rich foods like salmon, chicken and turkey. Select larger portions so you naturally consume more calories.

If you are a vegetarian this can seem like a challenge. Instead eat vegetable sources of protein like beans or protein shakes. You can also add protein rich spriulina to your shakes for an extra boost. Spirulina is a blue green sea algae that is also loaded with vitamins and high doses of minerals.

Weight Training

Another way to gain weight is to lift weights. Go to the gym and meet with a personal trainer to find out how to use the equipment. Work out all your muscle groups so that you get a total body work out. If you only work out one muscle group you may develop an improper balance of strength. Muscle weights a lot and your body will look more toned. If you want to gain weight without bulking up choose lighter weights and do more repetitions.

Carbohydrates

You can also gain weight fast by eating more carbohydrates. Carbs can really pack on the pounds if you don't burn them off. Choose healthy carbs like whole wheat bread or oatmeal. Vegetables like carrots and broccoli are also carbs, but they don't pack on the pounds. Regardless include them in your diet anyways to add to your calorie count.
